Kiwon Hong (b. 1989) is a Korean artist and architectural designer based in Paris. Trained in architecture in France, his practice explores how gestures become unstable terrains through friction, erasure and material resistance.
Working primarily on non-absorbent surfaces and paper, he approaches drawing through structure, rhythm and surface resistance. Graphite and ink marks slip, fade, accumulate and reappear as residue, forming monochrome fields suspended between control and disappearance.
Born and raised in Morocco, Kiwon’s work draws from childhood calligraphic training, tactile memories of dust, and inherited memories of Korean ink painting, while moving away from direct cultural codes toward body memory, sedimentation and a quiet sense of migration and displacement.
